Extract from Reclaiming Ourselves Ch8 P71.

Our inner guidance is always trying to communicate with us but most of us live such busy externally orientated lives that it is often difficult for us to slow down enough, to look within and hear it. We need to make a conscious effort to set the time aside to meditate and make this connection each day. If we are really busy and find it difficult to meditate, one way to begin to get in touch with our inner guidance is to begin to become aware of our intuitive responses in terms of the situations that arise in our lives. Note which ones create a good feeling inside, and which are stressful and don’t feel good. Take time every few days to review what your gut feelings have been about different events. Then make a conscious choice to follow the ones that give you a good feeling. Even just doing this, will begin to move us in the direction of choosing to spend more time doing things that are life-affirming for us. It helps us begin to eliminate unnecessary activities, particularly those that we feel we are obliged to do due to social pressures, but which in our heart are not what we really want to do. This, in itself, can make more time for us to meditate and get in touch with our inner guidance.
